Why?
Apples contain pectin, a type of fibre that can help you feel fuller quicker and stay satisfied for longer.
They are high in fibre, helping food move smoothly through the gut — great for digestion and keeping you regular.
The skin contains valuable antioxidants so try to eat the whole apple where possible.
Apples are also listed on the “Dirty Dozen” for higher pesticide residue, so organic would be wise choice.
Try adding 1 apple a day with a meal for a week and notice how you feel — you may even find your clothes fitting a little looser.
If raw apples upset your stomach or mouth then try lightly cooking them instead.
Note. Fibre may also help to reduce cancer risks and the water contained within the apple counts towards your daily water goals.
